Skate UK - What comes after Skate UK
Following the 10 Grade Skate UK Course there is an advanced course known as Skate UK Stars. This is also known more commonly as passports.
Passports come in 4 flavours, though not all are offered at all rinks, these are Freestyle, Dance, Speed & Syncho
Each passport is broken down into three grades in a similar fashion to Skate UK, these are Bronze, Silver & Gold.
Below is a breakdown of the passport information
Freestyle (Single) Skating
Bronze
- Forward Spiral on either foot with flow
- Bunny Hop into a Forward Drag
- Two Foot Spint (min 3 revolutions)
- Three Jump (Waltz Jump)
Silver
- Backward Spiral on either foot
- One Foot Spin (min 2 revolutions)
- Teapot on either foot, (forwards or backwards)
- Single Salchow Jump
Gold
- Backward outside One Foot Spin (min one revolution)
- One Foot spin with correct entry and one foot exit, (min 4 revolutions)
- Single Toe Loop Jump
- Combination of skating movements turns, spint and jumps in a short routine with or without music, max 1:30
Ice Dancing
Bronze
- Forward open chasses and crossed, (closed) chasses continuously on a circle (min 3) (Left & Right)
- Forward left outside closed mohawk, cross in front onto a LBI. Step forward to forwards RFI (x3) (Left & Right)
- Forward progressive runs (clockwise & anti-clockwise)
- Two consecutive LFO 3-turns followed by LFO sustained outside edge with free leg extended for a count of 1,2,3. (Left & Right)
Silver
- Forward progressive runs in a figure of eight. (In kilian hold with a partner / coach, optional ).
- Backward open chasses (x3 on each foot) in a serpentine sequence
- Backwards progressive runs in a figure of eight .
- A 7 step dance sequence. Right forward inside open mohawk. RBO run. RBO cross in-front LBI. Step forwards RFI. Repeated twice
Gold
- Forward run, forwards slip chasse (x3) ( in a figure of eight)
- Backward open chasses in a serpentine sequence (x3 on each foot) waltz hold with a partner/coach optional.
- Solo Novice Foxtrot with music. Correct pattern and 60% in time.
- A 9 step dance sequence. LFO progressive run. LFO closed chasse. LFO progressive run. LFO open mohawk. LBI.
Once you have completed Gold Level in your chosen discipline, you can continue to develop your skating ability by entering for NISA National Tests. It is best to discuss this with your coach.
