Me and my partner both started skating when we were 27, I know others who've started in their 30s, 40s, 50s. You're never too old to start.

Hi, I am 38 and started 2 years ago. I see a lot of older peeps who are really good so I guess its not an age thing. Go for it, give it a try and if it doesnt work out, what have you lost!!

I started skating when I was 20. My partner started when she was 25. I've been skating for 35 years.
I know people who've started in their 50's who've learnt to skate pretty well. I do know people in their 70's and 80's who are still pretty good skaters, but, unless you're pretty fit I suspect after the mid 60's may be getting a bit too late. Free skating probably isn't for you - go for dance. |

I think you're never too old to start learning, whether it's for recreational purposes or a passionate hobby.
I started skating again when I was 16 which is almost a year ago and I always wondered the same thing. I know that in order to be an olympic level skater you really do need to start very young, which was a shame for me as I had to overcome a 3 year long knee injury before I started. Nevertheless there are plenty of options for older skaters, such as ice dancing and most rinks offer a dance course.
I see people on the rink who are about 3 times my ages that can skate faster than I can, with more grace and even more flexibility, so I would say it's really down to determination and practice than age if you want to become a good skater
