Good luck...I hope you enjoy it Smile They start you off really slowly, so there's no need to worry.

Replied to PM but for the record

If you're doing a skate UK course then you should be welcomed onto the ice and asked if you have any previous skating experience, based on that they should sort you into tentative groups.  So those who think they're great will get moved off with a slightly higher group.

You'll start with simple things like standing and sitting on the ice, just some basic competence things to make sure you're safe on the ice.  Then from that you'll start to work on basic skating (pushes)

I've been building an FAQ about the levels here http://www.onlineicerink.co.uk/faq/skate-uk.asp
some of the grades are missing but the first few you'll need are there.
I have an aspergers like inability to understand what is and isn't appropriate

When I started, they did a simple test to split us up according to ability.  It was basically, if you can skate without holding the barrier you go in one group and if you can't you go in another.  I promise you won't find it too difficult, they really do start from the basics and if anything you'll probably find it too easy.
